How To Install MDF Wall Panels.
So you've done any prep work, but how do you actually install MDF panels?
- We recommend doing a test-fit with your panels first, holding them up to the wall to inspect your panels and check the measurements and cuts are accurate.
- Sand each MDF panel down with 120-400 grit sandpaper, 400 grit for a finer finish. (5-10 mins per panel)
-
Apply Grab Adhesive in three wavy lines along the back of your first panel, covering its full length
Top tip: We usually recommend that one tube of adhesive covers one panel. - Position the ‘first’ panel against your wall. Please note that this needs to be straight, so please use your spirit level for this.
- Apply pressure all along the panel and press firmly to secure it.
- Repeat for each panel.
After installing all your panels, caulk the join line where panels meet and any pin holes. Smooth it out with a filling knife and remove any excess with a damp cloth. Apply primer over the caulk before painting.
Once your finished installation is dry, it can be painted.
We recommend sanding lightly before, and in between, paint or primer coats for the best result.
